While working on home flooring solutions, ‘green flooring’ options are the latest in-things as it yields tax benefits and better financing options. Common green floor products are cork, carpet flooring, stone flooring, hardwood, bamboo and ceramic tile.

Carpet is one of the most famous and common green floor option adopted by the mass and class alike. Carpets are available in various styles suiting to the flooring needs of diverse people. Based on budget, lifestyle needs and aesthetics, there is one carpet style suitable for a family. Basic carpet styles are Saxony, Textured, frieze, looped, cable and cut n loop. However different from carpet styling is carpet construction, which can be woven, needle-punched or tufted.

Saxony is for style and elegance. This type of carpet is more durable as the tufts have more twist to it. Because of extra twist, the carpet is not as plush as velvet carpets but it makes it withstand high action area and long time.

Textured carpets are good at hiding traffic patterns or vacuum marks because of the multi-loops, which have varying height. These are most durable but least luxurious of all carpet styles.

Friezes are best suited for active area carpeting. These are cut-pile carpets with irregularities in yarns and extreme twist, which gives it a knobby appearance. Because of yarn irregularity, these carpets have close multi-colored threads into its making. This makes it adept in hiding dirt or minor stains.

Looped as well as cut n loop carpets are made as either cut, uncut level loops or with multilevel loops. Berber carpets are usually level loop carpets. They have a smooth, consistent surface and a light textured appearance.
